Bio
Sherry Gordy, a multifaceted individual born on May 23, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, is not only a devoted mother, grandmother, philanthropist, and loving wife but also an accomplished entrepreneur. As the daughter of Berry Gordy, the iconic founder of Motown Records, Sherry was raised in Southern California, where she imbibed the values of hard work and integrity despite her privileged upbringing.
Starting her journey in the professional world during high school, Sherry took on a part-time role at an annuity company in Marina Del Rey, California. Her commitment to education led her to enroll in Business studies at UCLA, simultaneously exploring acting at the Estelle Harmon Academy in Hollywood. Venturing into entrepreneurship after obtaining her real estate brokerage license, she navigated the complexities of the real estate and mortgage industry.
Sherry's determination to diversify her skills led her to apprentice at Motown, shadowing her father. Expanding her horizons, she entered the entertainment industry by creating Tickle Me Tuesdays Comedy Jam Dinner Show on the Las Vegas Strip. Recognizing the importance of giving back, Sherry got involved in philanthropy through the Berry Gordy Family Foundation and later established her own Sherry Jackson Foundation in 2004, focusing on the educational and emotional well-being of underprivileged youth.
In 2013, Sherry launched "Take The Stage," a Motown-inspired showcase that ran for three years at the Fiesta Rancho Casino Hotel in North Las Vegas. She extended her impact with the national talent competition, "Stage 2 Stage," offering opportunities to emerging artists. Amidst numerous accolades, proclamations, accommodations, and awards, including two dedicated "Sherry Gordy Days". In 2015 she contributed to The Las Vegas Soul Festival to benefit the Lazarex Cancer Foundation.
In 2016, Sherry temporarily closed her show to care for her ailing mother but earned acclaim when her team took the production to Australia. In December 2018, she joined the development team for The Motown Museum Expansion, showcasing her ongoing commitment to preserving musical legacies.
Always at the forefront of innovation, Sherry Gordy continues to embark on exciting entertainment ventures, promising more captivating experiences in the near future alongside the loving support of her spouse.
